The tradition of mezcal the Mayordomo and Joyas Oaxaqueñas began in 1890 when Don Fortino Leon began a small production of mezcal for family consumption. A couple of years later his drink was well known by the inhabitants of his native town, Tlacolula, and other surrounding villages.

 

Later his son Porfirio Leon resumed the mezcal production that Don Fortino interrupted due to the beginning of the Mexican Revolution. The fame of the product recovered when it decided to open an establishment where it made it available to the public along with other regional articles.

 

The quality of the mezcal was perfected when Don Ausencio León, son of Don Porfirio took control of the mezcal production and was dedicated to develop methods of filtration, purification and aging to obtain a pure drink, with body, of excellent quality and flavor.

Since the diffusion of mezcal as a unique beverage in Mexican territory in recent years, the production of mezcal the Mayordomo and Joyas Oaxaqueñas has increased to meet the demand of the national and international market.

 

Following the family tradition of spreading the knowledge of this wonderful drink and promoting the consumption of authentic Oaxacan mezcal, Mr. Luis León Monterrubio opens and makes available to him the local “Joyas Oaxaqueñas” in the town of Tlacolula de Matamoros, Oaxaca, Where all its visitors have the opportunity to taste the mezcal in its different presentations, white with worm, rested, aged and mezcal creams.

 

Here only certified by the Mexican Official Standard NOM – 070- SCFI – 1994 which is responsible for regulating and certifying the quality of products offered mezcal, this standard certifies that the raw materials and processes used are sanitary quality for consumption human. The public can assure that the mezcal is of excellent quality, elaborated artisanally and without adulterations.

 

Mr. Luis León compiles all the tradition and experience that his family has developed and preserved for many generations and welcomes all his clients to taste the traditional mezcal and the new and sensational mescal cream flavors.
