Domaine Fabrice Gasnier

Family estate for four generations, our estate is located around the village of Chezelet in the town of Cravant-les-Coteaux.
My great-grandfather, Aimé, owned three hectares of vines on the localities “Les Poileries” and “Tail de Poêlon”. At the time, the area was mixed. Aimé grew wheat, barley and raised animals (cows, sheep, pigs). Hubert Gasnier, his son, took over the farm in 1935 and developed wine production during the Second World War (red wine was a food substitute used during a food shortage). The vineyard spread over a total area of 17 hectares in the late 1950s.
Jacky Gasnier, my father, resumed farming in 1966. Immediately, he concentrated on the production of wine and led the field in monoculture. For more than 10 years, he restructured the vineyard by transforming what remained of parcels of table wine into AOC.
I knew from my young age that I would embrace the profession of winegrower. After agricultural studies in Gennes and several experiments in Entre Deux Mers, Champagne and Burgundy, I arrived on the estate to help my father in the vineyard as in the cellars. I remember it perfectly, I was 21 years old at the time, it was a September 26th of 1990, the first day of the harvest … The beginning of a great adventure!
Since 2000, we have been organic farming. After a conversion period, the estate is currently certified “Ecocert”. I pushed my practices a little further and now cultivate the entire operation in Biodynamics “Demeter”.
